What Are The Ramifications As Far As Registering On Sex Offender Registry Or Community Supervision For Life?

Being accused of a sex crime can have major impacts on your future. From your job to where you can live, there are many restrictions you are facing. It’s important that you discuss your options with a lawyer who will listen to all of your concerns. The Law Offices of Thomas T. Overton has helped clients throughout Tennessee for nearly 30 years.

If you are forced to become a member of the sex offender registry, you will have a new set of rules that are difficult to follow. However, they must be followed. If you don’t, the consequences can be even worse. After being charged with a felony sex crime, the typical guidelines are:

  • Mandatory curfew between 10 pm and 6 am, or another 8-hour time period if the offender works during those hours
  • Sex offender treatment program, active participation and successful completion
  • No contact with the victim, including through a third person
  • Living restrictions, if the victim was under 18, the offender is prohibited from living within 1,000 feet of a school, day care, park or playground
  • Work and volunteer restrictions
  • Restitution to the victim, as ordered by the court

These are just a few of the restrictions placed on those charged with this crime. When it matters most, you want our experienced attorneys on your side. Don’t face these charges alone.
